Steen-Hansen

Here’s a little colour splash for you!  This Packaging redesign was made by the Norwegian design duo Christian Schnitler and Are Kleivan, known as “The Metric System”. The packaging was made for Steen-Hansen, one of the oldest paint factories
in Norway (since 1932), based in Bergen. The design is colorful, simple and it clearly communicates color in a modern and  elegant way. The design won the Visuelt award in 2009. (more…)

Uglycute

Uglycute is a design and architecture office based in Stockholm, Sweden and just like me they like to work with concepts. On their page they says: ” We are working to expand the concept of design by crossbreeding it with our different professions and trying to analyze its impact on society by not only practicing but also writing, teaching and organizing workshops.” Not only do I love their philosophy, but I also love their work. Here are some examples of their furniture designs, but make sure to visit their site so see more of their amazing works!

Themis Mobile

Another great piece form the Fall/winter 2010 collection from Artecnica is Themis Mobile. I’ve always been a fan of the old mobiles from Mirò, and somehow I think this one, designed by Clara von Zweigbergk, gives me the same feeling. Its something with the colours and the geometrical shapes that just makes it so simple and elegant. Themis Mobile will be available from the end of September, and I definitely have it on my wish list! (more…)

Bright Side Light

The Fall/winter 2010 collection from Artecnica contains some really nice pieces. One of them is this Bright side light from by New York-based trio Rich Brilliant Willing. I love the use of clear glass as it gives a great contrast between a heavy feeling (due to its big size) and a light and almost cold sensation thanks to of the colour of the glass.  And to make the design even more extraordinary each lamp has a different messages like “In the right light, at the right time, everything is extraordinary.” Could it be better?

Jacob Lysgaard

I just discovered these amazing silk-printed posters from the Norwegian designer Jacob Lysgaard, and it was love at first sight! I adore how the balance between the black & white photography is mixed with the vivid colours and shapes of the feathers, and the contrast between a photo and hand drawing is just perfect! Take a look at some more pictures after the jump, and be sure to visit Jacob’s site and web shop!  I just can’t wait to get this “Indianer” on my wall…
