Solberg & Hansen, one of the best and oldest coffee houses in Norway, established in 1879, has always strived to accomplish to be the best in the market and bring you the finest coffee available. To do so in a society where we have coffee shops on every corner is not easy, and to get a little help on their way they hired Anti to design their new identity. The result is a classy, yet refreshing and decorative design that won the award “Gullblyanten” last Friday. See many more pics after the jump.

Idyll Concept

“Many hours, many days, many weeks and years have been spent by women in older generations using embroidery to create an idyllic view of the world around them. Many dreaming of a life that is beyond their grasp.”

This is how Johan Lindsten starts his press release describing”Idyll Concept” – a concept exploring the modern shapes and silhouettes of a chair in combination with the handcraft and the long lost sentimental value of embroideries.

Johan Linsten will be part of the Designersblock exhebition during Salone del Mobile in April.

Coop Design

When I studied in Italy a couple of years ago, my teacher Giulio Iacchetti was one of the main designers behind the project Eureka for the big supermarket Coop, redesigning everyday objects and giving them a new value. Now that I have come back home to Norway I am happy to see that also the Coop chain here are using design as an important way to present their own lines of products. Over you see the new coffee packaging made by Grid Design and under is the packaging for almond potato made by Impuls.

Ok, I must admit I have done a complete sell-out… Many bloggers receive make-up/fashion items as ”payment” (or bribe) for a blogg-post. But when you write about furniture’s and product design like I do, it’s very rare that you get anything. Maybe its because a sofa might be slightly harder to send in the mail or simply because the a lipstick cost a little less than a designer chair or lamp. So when LuShae Jewellery sent me a gift card to pick out whatever I wanted in their online store, I happily picked these simple and elegant silver earrings. I like the simplicity in the design, and I have already used them a lot! So even though it feels a bit like a sell out to write a post about this, the earrings was totally worth it!

Unfortunately I couldn’t be at the Stockholm furniture fair this year- but I am really looking forward to Salone del mobile in Milan! One of the designers that exhibited in Stockholm was Carl Hagerling the designer behind UNO. He used to be a graphic designer but switched to become an industrial designer, and I love the way you can see his graphical style in his products. His products are playful, functional and have a geometric form language, and I think both the A-7 lamp and cumulus shelf would be perfecta in my apartment!

I love this lamp! Its called Favorite Things and it’s a lamp to spread the light and tales of your favourite things.. You can place whatever you’d like inside the bulb- a great way to make your own little exhibition in your home! The lamp is made by Chen Karlsson – a Swedish-Asian family business run by the Chen family and the Karlsson family. Their designs has roots in both the Asian and Scandinavian traditions, witch makes a fun, playful and innovative design expression.

Playmedesign Give-Away

Yeah, you heard right: I am giving away stuff for free! In collaboration with different designers I give you the opportunity to get your hands on some really cool stuff here at Playmedesign!

The fist give-away is from my own jewellery collection,

which consists of hand drawings made on plastic with silver earpieces or brooches, and different silver necklace.

The rules are simple: Take a look at the pictures after the jump, decide witch one you like the most and simply leave a comment with why you should be the one to get it!

A new logo and a new tradition!

As you might have noticed Playmedeisgn has got a new logo and a symbol!! After having the same old logo for over two years, it was time to make a change, and I am glad to present to you this new, playful and edgy logo made by my good friend Lotte Grønneberg.

This logo also marks a beginning of a new tradition here at Playmedesign: Free give-aways!! I have for the past weeks talked to different designer and managed to get he hold of some amazing stuff, that I just can wait to give to you the opportunity to win!

We are kicking it off with a give away from my own jewellery collection today, but make sure to bookmark this page so you don’t miss all the good stuff coming up in the next few months!

Shuffle Table

Some times I stumble over products that are just so perfect to post here, that I just can’t wait to do it! It’s like that with this playful and fun table made by Norwegian Mia Hamborg. This table is a combination to the old Nordic craft tradition of turning wood and inspiration form the color and the playful forms from old painted wooden toys. You can put the pieces together anyway you like, and I cant think of any better accessory to this table than a big bowl of candy!

Mobile kitchen by Burkhard Schäller

I live in a tiny little apartment in Oslo and even though it’s small I really like it here. The only thing I am kind of irritated on is the student-version of a kitchen: 2 plates, a sink and a fridge squeezed together in a corner. The German interior designer Burkhard Schäller has made a much better-looking version of my kitchen, with beautiful, almost graphic, lines. And to top it all off: this is a mobil kitchen witch means you can fold it together and bring it with you! More pictures after the jump!
