Sony roundtable discussion

Some of you might remember that I flew to London in May to participate in a roundtable discussion for Sony Europe. Here are, finally, the videos from our discussion about how technology in the home has changed over the past 50 years; The function of the TV, both in the past as well as in the future; The function of the living room and how the use of that space has changed over time; What the ideal living room looks like; What the future TV will look like.

See more videos from the round table discussion after the jump, or check out Sonys profile on Youtube.

MomentumDesign

I finally have some vacation time but off course I’m out of luck when it comes to the weather. But when it’s a rainy summer day, nothing is better than going on a good exhibition. MomentumDesign is an exhibition dedicated to what happens in the cross-area between art and design, a subject I am really inspired by.

The exhibition itself is held in the beautiful old industrial buildings in Moss, and just to see the spectacular view of the harbour and the cellulose fabric is worth a visit. A great surprise to me was that I had already written about many of the exhibited works here on Playmedesign, so in one way it was great to see that my “trend spotting” is right on. It is exiting to see that design gets this kind of focus and appreciation in Norway, and I really think they have collected a good variety between interesting, fun, smart and special objects. Many of these objects balance on the thin line between art and design, and to exhibit them as design objects in an art museum is therefore really suiting.

The section of Hareide Design was not so impressive – although they’ve had great success, their work is not particularly interesting and many other Norwegian design offices has equally as interesting history as them.

The exhibition is opened until the 18th of October, so if you happen to be in the area of Moss, Norway I would strongly recommend a visit to MomentumDesign. In the next few post will present some of the works from the exhibition, which I have not yet written about here on playme…

I apologize….

… my site is still have some serious troubles. Since someone hacked my site a couple of months ago, everything has been kind of fucked up. My friends at DotGrid are trying to fix the problem, and we thought it would help to install a new WP version. The main problem is fixed since we moved the site, but it’s a lot of the old stuff missing…like pictures if you go a bit back in the archive. I cross my fingers that this will be fixed as soon as possible – this site is my baby and I hate it when things don’t work the way I want it to.

To illustrate how I feel here are some photos from Marc Da Cuncga Lopes called Primary bugs…. (more…)
