The Fall/winter 2010 collection from Artecnica contains some really nice pieces. One of them is this Bright side light from by New York-based trio Rich Brilliant Willing. I love the use of clear glass as it gives a great contrast between a heavy feeling (due to its big size) and a light and almost cold sensation thanks to of the colour of the glass. And to make the design even more extraordinary each lamp has a different messages like “In the right light, at the right time, everything is extraordinary.” Could it be better?

Foscarini is yet again introducing a new lamp and this time it’s the table lamp, called Tua. The design is minimal and elegant, and by simply bending the shaped metal, it becomes both the support and the screen for the lamp. Although I must admit I like the more colourful, and ruff style from Foscarini –this certainly is a timeless and classical product that would look good on any kind of night table! Tua is designed by Marco Zito.

The Slightly Awkward Desk Lamp has not only a really funny name, but its also based on the idea that the defining beauty in people is often the characteristic that doesn’t fit the standard mold. Nonlinear design studio has therefore created a lamp that doesn’t fit the standards… With one leg longer than the others and a strange proportion between the small legs and the heavy shade, this lamp really is slightly awkward! I love the clean and elegant lines in this lamp called Circle lamp. It’s designed by Swedish Monica Försters for De Padova. She says that the idea for this lamp was to go ”back to basic” and work with simple geometric shapes – a half circle. Somehow the shape and silhouette reminds me of water lilies and I cant help but to get a good, summer-feeling about this lamp! (more…)

The French designer Constance Guisset has created this beautiful lamp called Vertigo. I love how it plays on the balance between the light and the heavy, the minimal structure and the maximal size and shape. The lightness of the lamp makes it move to the rythm of the air: it turns softly, projecting an almost transparent graphic space between the floor and the ceiling.I only wish I had a room big enough for this lamp… (more…)
