Jacob Dahlstrup Jensen

It is impossible not to smile and fall in love with this banana boat! The Danish artist Jacob Dahlstrup Jensen has a lot of sailor inspired works in his portfolio –form beautiful tattoo- drawings under the title  “Between the devil and the deep blue”, to funny and smart installations and objects like this Banaba boat and the floating anchor. I really like his humorous twist on things!  See more pictures after the jump, and please visit his site in order to get inspired, have a laugh and to be amazed! (more…)

Jacob Lysgaard

I just discovered these amazing silk-printed posters from the Norwegian designer Jacob Lysgaard, and it was love at first sight! I adore how the balance between the black & white photography is mixed with the vivid colours and shapes of the feathers, and the contrast between a photo and hand drawing is just perfect! Take a look at some more pictures after the jump, and be sure to visit Jacob’s site and web shop!  I just can’t wait to get this “Indianer” on my wall…

Nacho Carbonell

A chair is something you sit on – but what if you ad an extra shape to it, so that it doesn’t resemble the classical chair-shape anymore? It still maintain its function, but by giving it a different form, the main function switches over to be an aesthetic object, – a sculpture. The fact that you can sit on it, now becomes secondary. But is it design, or art, or maybe both?

Nacho Carbonell is a hot name at the moment- and with his strange, different and unique works he has made the design industry raise the question on what is design and what is art?  If you have followed this site for a while, you already know that this is a subject I am  passionate abut, and I love the fact that magazines are starting to talk about this. See more pictures of Naco Carbonells work after the jump, and be sure to visit his site to see videos and interviews of the artist/designer.

I like to see objects as living organisms, imagining them coming alive and being able to surprise you with their behaviour. I want to create objects with my hands, then I can give them my personality. I turn them into communicative objects that can arouse one’s sensations and imagination. In short, what I want to create are objects with a fictional or fantasy element, that allow you to escape everyday life.” -Nacho Carbonell (more…)

Time Present

Seen at MomentumDesign:

‘Time Present’ is the master project from Swedish Cecilia Dreyfert at HDK – School of Design and Crafts in Gothenburg.  ‘Time Present’ is exhibited as a movie and as an elegant, black gift box with a small diamond shaped candle inside. The idea is to embody the perception of time as a precious gift and question the attitude that ‘time is money’. The candle will burn out in one hour – and I like the symbolism of using the diamond shape as a measurement of how precious one hour can be. “Time present” is a cute concept, not really amazingly deep or extraordinary in any way, but it leaves you with a good feeling and it works as a great reminder of enjoying life. Zim and Zou

CloudComputing_1-1I love, love, love the work of Zim and Zou! In fact I love it so much I have to spread it out over two posts… First of I want to show you the amazing work with paper! You might have seen some of their work on the web already, as they got quite famous with their Christmas card in paper. But digging deeper into their portfolio I’ve discovered more stunning work. It is playful, funky, fun and insanely detailed, and I can’t even think of how much work there must be behind this. Enjoy more pictures after the jump, and a tomorrow I’ll show you more… (more…)
