I stumbled over this video at Vimeo and I just had to show it to you! The story is a bit destructive, but the graphic is really, really good. The style remind me of a mix between old computer games and Fritz Lang movies, made in a detailed and brilliant way! This film called Mars is made by Joe Bichard and Jack Cunningham and I strongly recommend a visit to their Vimeo site to check out some more of their works!
Today the first semi-final of the Eurovision song contest started here in Oslo, and I have to admit I watched it for a little while. NRK, the national television channel, is usually really good at the designs and animation department, but when it comes to the designprofile for Eurovision I just don’t understand what went wrong. The design itself looks like a crossover between Hanna Montana and an underwater world, and with bubbles everywhere backstage it just looks messy and childish. The animation is not very exiting either, and I still cant get over the fact that they totally ripped Kodak for their slogan: Share the moment…
All that being said I still think the show itself look good, and the lightning design is quite impressing…

Being at Visuelt was not only fun because it was a great event but what made the night even better was to see that several of my good friends actually won awards! Kristian Pedersen is a good friend and a really talented animator. In the category of Moving Image he won the student award for his project “Viva Zombatista”. You can see the pilot episode over, and congratulations to you Kristian!

Today I’ve been spending my day at Visuelt here in Oslo. Visuelt is the biggest annual event for the creative industry in Norway and consists of a competition, seminars, prize award show, party and exhibition.
So fare there has been some really great speakers, and one that really impressed me was Studio Soi. They recently made the animation film based on the book of The Gruffalo, witch is quite a fun story. The film witch really impressed me the most was the ”Der kleine und das biest” a short movie about how a little boy that has to deal with parents turning into monsters while going trough a divorce. Here are some pictures of the films, and I strongly recommend you to see them if you get the chance!

It is Monday morning and I am exhausted after working all weekend. But starting the day with this nice video from A lull definitely helps getting back on track and ready for a new week of design. The design is made by Nigel Evan Dennis who has a really nice style —exploring simple shapes and transforming them into elegant design pieces. It makes me think of wood toys I had when I was a child and it left me with a good and warm feeling!
