Here’s a little update on the past week- Thursday I was invited to talk on Pecha Kucha here in Oslo, and it turned out to be a greet night. I was quit nervous about presenting my self and my work in front of so many people, but it went better than expected and I must admit that I actually like standing on a stage!
For those who haven’t heard about this before: Pecha Kucha, means “chitchat” in English, and its an event for young creative’s to show their work to the public. Each presenter is allowed 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds – giving 6 minutes 40 seconds of fame before the next presenter is up. Pecha Kucha nights are held all over the world.

This might be the longest picture I have posted on the front page of Playmedesign, but I think its fun, playful and a bit strange! Its made by the Swedish Måns Wikström . On his page he says: “This was made one night when the expression
“It’s raining cats and dogs” just didn’t cut it,
it rained more then that, it rained…
uhm.. …zebras!”
There is nothing I love more than products that have a sense of humor mixed into the design, and therefore the Sweet Stool, Hocker and Sofa are right up my ally! Inspired by the process of ice-cream making, they look so cute, smooth and soft – I just really want to have a taste! Just like ice-cream, Sweet is coated in a layer, that is both durable and delicious. Therefore Spell, the designer behind it, like to say that Sweet is dipped in pleasure! More pics after the jump…

I have written about her before but I just think there is something strange, beautiful and a bit different with her drawings, so here are some of the latest works from Shawna X. I cant really put the finger on what it is that makes these drawing stand out for me, maybe its because she almost always includes animals in some ways, or maybe it’s the way her illustrations seems inspired by fashion, Japanese drawing style and art… I just know I really like them! Here’s another post about the unexpected use of typography. This time it’s a campaign to communicate the joy with Durex, made entirely out of words. I don’t think this is any wear near as well made and funny as the Durex-get it on campaign from last year, but it certainly is a fun use of typography. Made by German illustrator/designer Andrej Krahne. (more…)
